Lot of two (2) toned silver gelatin photographs, 8 x 10, on heavyweight paper.  Unknown actress wears an ornate costume, highlighted by a very unusual headwear. Bert’s K.C. photographer’s imprint.

Bert's Studio was a photography business operating in Kansas City during the 1920s.  They specialized in theatrical portraits, particularly of vaudeville performers. Their style was characterized by using backgrounds painted directly onto the glass plate negative, according to the University of South Carolina. This technique created a dramatic contrast between the subject and the background. Bert's Studio was part of a broader trend in Kansas City during the 1920s that involved photographers employing artistically rendered backgrounds in their portraits.
Very appealing images, exhibits strong tonality, contrast and clarity, Has some minor use and wear, a pinhole on top and bottom of image (actress standing), o/w fine condition .
